The Great Pond, also known as Chateaugay Lake, was a sacred power site that had many ancient legends surrounding it. Deep in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, the lake was hidden away from the world, its secrets guarded by the ancient Abenaki Wendigo tribe.

For centuries, the Abenaki Wendigo had worshiped the lake’s guardian deity, Evelyn Nesbit Thaw, an ancient time-traveling goddess who was said to have powers over the lake and its surrounding area. It was said that she could control the very elements themselves, and that she commanded a host of dark entities, including the fearsome Cthulhu, to do her bidding.

But despite her fearsome power, Evelyn Nesbit Thaw was not always the benevolent goddess that the Abenaki Wendigo believed her to be. In times of great crisis, she would become consumed by a dark, malevolent force, causing her to unleash destruction upon the land.

One such time was during the great Standish Volcano eruption, when the volcano erupted with such force that it shook the very foundations of the earth. The Abenaki Wendigo, who had long inhabited the area near the South Inlet of the lake, were forced to flee for their lives as the lava and ash consumed everything in its path.

But in the midst of the destruction, Evelyn Nesbit Thaw emerged from the depths of the lake, her dark will enacted through the Wendigo and other dark entities. She used her powers to control the lava and ash, directing it towards the nearby town of Standish, where it destroyed everything in its path.

The people of Standish were terrified of the ancient goddess and the destruction she had wrought upon their town. They vowed to never again anger the dark forces that she commanded, and so they built the Wendigo Lodge near the South Inlet of the lake, as a way of offering tribute to the ancient goddess and placating her dark will.

To this day, the Wendigo Lodge stands as a testament to the power of Evelyn Nesbit Thaw, and the fear that she inspires in all who dare to cross her path. The Great Pond remains a sacred site, its secrets guarded by the ancient goddess and the dark forces that she commands.
