The Rowdy Hill Gang: Masters of Temporal Mischief

The Infamous BOHAT 1P

In the wake of the Chronophage crystal’s emergence and the fracturing of time around Chateaugay Lake, no group adapted more swiftly or more audaciously to the new temporal landscape than the Rowdy Hill Gang. Once content with mere bootlegging operations, these enterprising rogues found themselves thrust into a world of possibility that stretched across the very fabric of time itself.

“The Rowdy Hill boys?” Rev. Chevalier Ultrus muses, a glimmer of mischief in his ancient eyes. “They went from running hooch to running circles around the laws of physics. And it all started with that blasted car of theirs.”

The car in question, a sleek Riley engine of 1920s vintage, bore the now-legendary license plate “BOHAT 1P”. But this was no ordinary vehicle. Witnesses claim it could appear and disappear at will, often seeming to exist in multiple places – and times – simultaneously.

Heists Across History

The Rowdy Hill Gang’s exploits became the stuff of legend, each more outrageous than the last:

  • The Great Steamboat Caper of 1889 (and 1922, and 2003): The gang managed to rob the same luxury steamboat three times in a single night – across three different centuries.
  • The Reversed Bank Job: Eyewitnesses swore they saw the gang return money to a bank vault, only to realize days later that they had actually stolen it – the heist had happened in reverse.
  • The Future Fair Fiasco: The gang crashed the Chateaugay World’s Fair of 2045, making off with technology that wouldn’t be invented for another two decades.

“Time itself became their playground,” Ultrus explains, shaking his head in begrudging admiration. “And that car, that infernal BOHAT 1P, was their chariot through the ages.”

The Paradox Predicament

But even the Rowdy Hill Gang wasn’t immune to the perils of temporal manipulation. Reports circulated of gang members encountering their past or future selves, leading to paradoxes that threatened the very stability of Chateaugay’s already fragile timeline.

The most infamous incident occurred when three versions of gang leader “Slippery” Pete O’Malley – from 1905, 1925, and 1945 – engaged in a heated argument over the ownership of the BOHAT 1P in the middle of Main Street. The resulting temporal disturbance caused clocks throughout the town to run backwards for a week.

A Legacy of Mischief

Today, the exploits of the Rowdy Hill Gang are remembered with a mixture of awe, amusement, and exasperation by the residents of Chateaugay Lake. Their BOHAT 1P license plate has become a symbol of the town’s unique relationship with time, emblazoned on t-shirts and postcards sold to curious touriists.

They were scoundrels, make no mistake,” Rev. Ultrus concludes, a wry smile playing at his lips. “But they were our scoundrels. And in a world where time itself had gone mad, perhaps a little madness was exactly what we needed.”

As for the current whereabouts of the Rowdy Hill Gang and their infamous vehicle? That remains a mystery. Some say they’re still out there, slipping between the cracks of time, always one step ahead of the law – and the laws of physics. Others insist they finally bit off more than they could chew, trapped in some distant past or unwritten future.

But on quiet nights, when the mist rolls in off Chateaugay Lake, locals swear they can sometimes hear the distant purr of an engine and catch a fleeting glimpse of a license plate that reads BOHAT 1P, a reminder that in this town, the past, present, and future are always just a moment away.
